A very handsome rebound copy of this rare first edition, bound in dark leather with raised bands and gilt ruling to each, red title lable gilt titles and ships and anchors to the compartments date at base all in gilt, marbled boards leather corners, new end papers, on the remaining original ep is written in a fine flourishing hand “Wm MacDermot Lieut 88th regt , bought at Cape Town Apr 28th this is crossed out & underneath the 4th 1807″ again on the top of the title page he has signed his name again & ” at Sea April 13th 1807″ . There is an engraved frontis dated 1788 . page 321 has small nibble from the bottom not effecting the text the last few pages are foxed & a trifle worn due to the rear board having been missing probably for years 330 pages of small text, included is the fold out plan of the high court parliament with seating arrangements etc. NB William MacDermot became the Prince of Connaught this book was bought by us along with the entire library of his descendents at the family home Coolavin Co Sligo Ireland.
