A charming Japanese Netsuke ivory carving of a young boy with his pet rat or mouse in his lap this was carved by the rarely named carver GYOKUZAN and is signed by him it was carved circa 1860. A netsuke pronounced Netski was made to have a silk thread through the little holes underneath to fasten a purse on a belt .
