17thc CHILDS CASED SILVER KNIFE & FORK

This  rare cased set of silver knives and forks in a contemporary leather case were hung on the belt by a complicated string mechanism so as not to drop either the top or the bottom by a child and probably mostly used if traveling or visiting, they were a sign of great wealth .

This pair probably French is housed in a black and gilded leather case, the knife blade has two knife makers marks stamped on the blade and the unmarked the silver handles & fork have charming gilded rabbits at the finial,  these were for a child and were made in the early to mid 1600`s. These are very very rare and special .
